Application of fused zirconium corundum bricks in glass kilns

Fused zirconium corundum bricks, also known as fused bricks, can be used for the pool wall of glass kilns. So what are the requirements for the selection of fused zirconium corundum bricks? Generally, for soda-lime-silicon glass, 36# fused zirconium corundum bricks with good corrosion resistance should be used in the upper layer of the middle and rear parts of the melting pool. When using electric boosting and bubbling, the electric plug bricks and bubbling tube plug bricks are severely corroded, and the electric plug bricks require good insulation, so 41# fused zirconium corundum bricks should be used.

Refractory materials for glass kilns: The following two aspects can be considered. At this time, fused mullite bricks cannot be used for the lower layer of the pool wall fused bricks. This is because the lower part of the pool wall fused bricks will also be strongly corroded after using electric boosting and bubbling technology. However, when Fe2O3, CoO, and c-colored glass are melted without electric boosting and bubbling technology, fused mullite bricks can be used for the lower layer of the pool wall fused bricks.

From the horizontal direction, the corrosion of the front, middle and back parts is different. The raw material inlet and the middle of the pool are easy to be damaged. The rear pool wall is the second. The pool wall fused bricks near the flow hole are less damaged. However, for the double-chamber pool furnace, there is a section of eight-shaped wall near the flow hole in the melting pool, and the pool wall fused bricks here are also more easily damaged.

From the vertical direction, the upper glass liquid is at a high temperature, the liquid flow is strong, and the chemical reaction is fierce, so the upper part of the pool wall fused bricks is seriously corroded. Especially near the liquid surface line, it is at the junction of gas, liquid and solid phases, and there is often corrosion from nitrate water and powder, so it is one of the most seriously corroded parts.

For other types of glass, such as glass containing K2O, Li2O, MgO, BaO, PbO, A12O3, B2O3, F, etc., except for some special cases, the pool wall fused bricks can be selected according to the above method. This special case refers to high-silicon low-alkali or alkali-free glass. For the pool furnace that melts this kind of glass, the domestic pool wall fused bricks mainly use quartz bricks and white foam stone bricks. There are also dense zircon bricks and 36# fused zircon corundum bricks in foreign countries.
