(1)Liquid hole

The corrosion of the liquid hole on the clarification part side is smaller than the corrosion on the melting part side, because the glass here has lost part of the heat, but the refractory material selected for this part should still have good corrosion resistance. capabilities, especially for cover and veneer tiles.

(2) Bridge walls and side walls

The refractory materials used in these two parts are corroded by lower temperatures than the refractory materials used in the melting part, but they are still corroded by the glass liquid level and become the largest corrosion point. Refractory materials used range from fused clay bricks to fused cast zirconium aluminum silica bricks. Melt-cast α and β-corundum bricks are widely used. Some tank kilns for melting borosilicate glass use medium-density zirconium bricks, and many fiberglass furnaces use a combination of dense sintered chrome bricks, fused AZS bricks, and dense zirconium bricks.

(3) Feed entrance

The entrance to the feed channel usually rises above the bottom of the clarification section. This is the starting point for the manifold connected to the molding machine. If the joint between the upper and lower brick layers here is not very tight, it will be particularly vulnerable to the upward undercutting effect of its bottom surface. For this reason, most refractory materials are best diamond ground to obtain tight joints for maximum service life. Almost all refractory materials used here are melt cast.

The environment here is basically the same as in the melting section where the glass comes into contact. The bottom of this part is also more sensitive to defects caused by refractory materials than the melted part. Some furnaces still have integral clay brick construction in this area; however, most furnaces are paved. Refractory materials used in practice include sintered zirconium bricks, sintered AZS bricks, fused corundum bricks and fused AZS refractory materials.
