How to ensure the stability of electrode support blocks in glass furnaces?

Electrode support blocks play a key role in glass furnaces. They provide stable support for electrodes, ensuring the normal operation of the furnace and the stable implementation of the glass production process.

1. Material selection

Electrode support blocks are made of refractory materials that are high-strength, high-temperature resistant, and have a thermal expansion coefficient similar to that of surrounding materials. For example, high-quality fused cast AZS blocks are used, which have good high-temperature mechanical properties and chemical stability, can maintain structural strength in high-temperature environments, reduce deformation or damage caused by insufficient material performance, and thus ensure stability.

2. Precise design and installation

A▪  Precise design: Precise design is carried out according to the specific structure, electrode arrangement and thermal system of the glass furnace. Considering the temperature field and stress distribution in the furnace, the shape, size and position of the electrode support blocks are reasonably determined to ensure that they can evenly bear the weight and force of the electrodes and other related components.

B▪ Standardized installation: The installation process is strictly carried out in accordance with the design requirements and operating procedures.

3. Hot maintenance

A▪ Tempering control: During the heating process of the glass furnace, the heating rate is strictly controlled to avoid excessive thermal stress on the electrode support blocks due to rapid temperature changes, which may damage or affect stability.

B▪Regular inspection: During the operation of the furnace, the electrode support blocks are regularly inspected to monitor their appearance changes (such as cracks, peeling, etc.), position changes, etc., to promptly discover potential problems and take corresponding measures, such as repair or replacement if necessary.

4. Environmental control

A▪ Chemical erosion protection: Take protective measures against possible chemical erosion in the glass furnace.

B▪ Airflow control: Reasonably control the airflow distribution in the furnace to avoid excessive fluctuations in local temperature and pressure due to abnormal airflow, which will have an adverse effect on the electrode support block.
